CyberLink YouCam allows you to add weird and wonderful effects to your webcam chats and conversations that will make even the most boring web conferences a bit more fun. You can even record in HD, with advanced facial tracking technology that can superimpose objects on your face while chatting. You're spoiled for choice in terms of effects with over 3,000 to choose from.

So, if you fancy turning yourself into Abraham Lincoln or a talking dog, CyberLink YouCam is probably for you. The applications works with most major messaging clients such as Windows Live Messenger, Skype, Yahoo Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger.

There are two different modes to choose from. Live Chat Mode, which allows you to pepper your chats with video effects and Video and Photo Capture Mode. This allows you to record yourself on video, capture a single photo, or perform a photo burst. Finally, you can also choose Automatic Capture which records videos by setting your recording time or starts automatically when it detects motion.

The most recent release of CyberLink YouCam features 'Headgear gadgets' which allow you to do anything from star in a Chinese opera to becoming a viking. 'Scene Effects' adds some cool new backgrounds including a very impressive Times Square where your face is projected onto one of the big screens. If you want to make a video, CyberLink YouCam now includes several different special video effects plus there are a plethora of new emoticons to get your feelings across more effectively.

CyberLink YouCam is a fun tool that will spice up any web chat, although some of the effects are more realistic than others.
