Norton is one of the most popular brands in security software. Some of its products have been in the market for years and are installed on millions of computer around the world on a daily basis. One of them is Norton Antivirus.
The new Norton Antivirus 2010 is described as its developers as the fastest, most proactive antivirus tool. And I have to say the program does meet such expectations: it installs really quickly, is not constantly interrupting your work with nagging messages and does an efficient job protecting your system from viruses, Trojans and worms. If only it was a bit lighter on resources, it would be perfect.
Norton Antivirus 2010 includes the new SONAR 2 technology, which keeps you safe from both new and unknown threats, apart from specific tools to protect your email and browser. Another new feature is the so called Norton Performance System, which takes care of your computer's performance by tracking the usage of processor and memory. This new version still includes the so called "Silent Mode", a special mode that temporarily disables alerts and other background activity, perfect for those moments in which you need to really concentrate on work.
The interface appearance in Norton Antivirus 2010 has only been slightly changed in comparison to the previous version. The main window offers a general overview of the system's current security status and includes links to the program's main functions, as well as to the configuration settings for each secured area: computer and network.
